During the flurry to find a non-Nazi alternative to Twittex, one of the contenders for a while was the social network called Mastodon. A lot of tech-savvy historians gravitated to it, and they helped to develop historians.social.
Apparently it hasn't worked out. Clio Digital Media, which has curated historians.social, has announced that the service does not raise sufficient income (donations mostly) to keep it going. So it's over as of October 2025.
