Pierre Berton (1920-2004) died twenty years ago last month. I recently noticed in one of those polls taken to prove Canadians know nothing about history that only 57% of respondents could identify who Pierre Berton was. Here's Wikipedia, if you need to brush up.Also recently, writer Stephen Bown was recently named the 2024 winner of the Pierre Berton Award for Popular History, gradually becoming better known as the Governor-General's Medal for Popular History.
