Award for Community History Programmes -- nominations open

The Award for Excellence in Community Programming is one of the Governor-General's History Awards administered by the Canada's History Society, and the society is welcoming nominations and applications.

This award recognizes community-led initiatives that encourage public engagement in Canadian history. Applications are evaluated on their audience reach, community impact, and contribution to greater public understanding of Canada’s history.

Eligible projects include exhibitions, multimedia projects, conservation or commemoration projects, and public programming such as workshops or festivals.

Two recipients will receive $2,500 each, and a trip for two to Ottawa to receive their award at the Governor General’s History Awards.

If you know a community history project, submit a nomination or start an application. Applications are due on July 15, 2023.
