Canada's History at the National Magazine Awards

Spruce beer  (Tierra Connor, illus.)

Nice to see Canada's History pick up a couple of National Magazine Awards (Honourable Mention) yesterday.

Both awards, one for Illustration, one for "One-of-a-kind storytelling," were for  "Old-School DIY," by Brooke Campbell, Kaitlin Vitt, and Mark Collin Read, illustrated by Tierra Connor, from the February-March 2019 issue

It's a cleverly tongue-in-cheek guide to getting by as Canadians used to:  how to make spruce beer, how to cure a codfish, how to make pemmican, how to make a feed-sack dress, and so on.

The usual lavish bash didn't happen; the ceremony was online.
