I noticed Brian Osborne, Kingston-based historian-geographer and authority on place, community and heritage, and also Hal Philip Klepak, longtime Royal Military College history and strategic studies professor and authority on Latin American history. Stretch the historian definition a bit, and we can add Mel Watkins, noted advocate of Canadian nationalism and progressive politics since the late 1960s.
Among writers, I noted only the happy inclusion of my friend, the novelist Katherine Govier.
