Margaret McBurney, who with her writing partner Mary Byers wrote six substantial volumes in architectural history and heritage appreciation on Ontario and Atlantic Canada, died recently. Born in Regina and originally trained in interior decoration in Winnipeg, McBurney was a leading exponent of Ontario and Canadian heritage preservation in the early years of that movement.
McBurney was also a friend and colleague of June Callwood, editor of a tribute volume to her, and with her a founder and board member of the Toronto AIDS hospice Casey House. Her papers are archived at the Archives of Ontario.
