THE extreme predilection I have always had for explorations in New France has made me more and more desirous to travel through this territory, by means of the rivers, lakes and streams which are there in great number, in order to obtain at last a complete knowledge of the country, and also to examine the tribes which inhabit it, with the view of bringing them to the knowledge of God.

Champlain Society has just made its hundred-year collection of documentary compilations on Canadian history available as pdfs, ebooks, whatever. As in for example, Samuel de Champlain's
Voyages, quoted above, but a
