The New York Times has released its Hundred Notable Books of 2008. Canajian interest: Charles Taylor's Secular Life and David Fischer's Champlain biography, both in the non-fiction section
The Times better get the attention while it can. On December 1, we will be launching "Gifts for the Hard-to-buy-for Historian" right here. It will be a selection of recommendations from notable writers, historians, and friends of this blog, and it will run daily until Christmas.
My own notable history books of 2008 will come along early in 2009. Suggestions and recommendations welcome via the comments feature (I'll hold them for use then) or emailed to me at: cmed[at]sympatico[dot]ca. (I believe that thing with the square brackets is some kind of anti-spam affectation we are all using nowadays.)
