News of the death from cancer at age just 51 of Dr Sheela Basrur, Toronto's inspirational director of Public Health during the SARS crisis of 2003 makes me think: there has been no big book on Toronto/SARS/2003. Vincent Lam's novel Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures uses it as a backdrop, but what a story remains to be told -- medical, socio-cultural, political, psychological.
So much dreck on the shelves... and yet so many unwritten books.
