While the new War Museum was under construction in Ottawa, I was invited to be a kind of "reviewer" of its exhibit plans. At the time, my main concern was there was too little space set aside for the special, changeable exhibits the Museum would need in order to remain topical and fresh over the years. Even with the euphoric response the Museum got (and deserved) when it opened, I thought my concern was valid.
But Val Ross's story in yesterday's Globe & Mail about the Afghanistan exhibit the Museum has put together at lightning speed suggests the War Museum is doing a great job with special exhibits. Clearly the people there want to be a museum at and on the controversial edge. Good on them.
