Alison Prentice of Victoria, formerly of OISE in Toronto, was on the recent
list of appointees to the Order of Canada, honoured "
for her pioneering contributions as a scholar, advancing the field of women’s history and the history of education." She is the author or co-author of, among others, The School Promoters, The Neglected Majority, Canadian Women: A History, Women Who Taught, Gender and Education in Ontario, and Creating Historical Memory: Eight Canadian Women and the Work of History.
