a pungent review of the rival claims of Frederick Cook and Robert Peary to have reached the North Pole a hundred years ago this month. Hey, they say, if people believed George Bush about Saddam Hussein, why wouldn't they believe Cook, or Peary -- but not both, since each denounced the other as a fraud.
