Real change: Does Trudeau have plans for the monarchy?

Well, not officially. The last Liberal Party convention rejected a young Liberal motion in favour of a Canadian head of state.

But maybe delegates to this conference will be watching for any signs of change. The Institute for the Study of the Crown in Canada will meet in Victoria in January to consider "The Crown in the 21st Century: Deference or Drift?" (Is there a right answer to that question?) Various constitutional experts from around the Commonwealth will participate.

There are some perks to taking an interest in the monarchy.  The conference is at Government House, and both the lieutenant-governor and the legislative speaker have invited delegates to dine.
