The confederation coalition, 150 years ago today

Reporter Jennifer Ditchburn notices that today, June 22, marks the 150th anniversary of the parliamentary announcement in Quebec City (not Ottawa) that George Brown's Reformers would go into coalition with George-Etienne Cartier's Bleus and John A. Macdonald's Conservatives to pursue a federal union, either for Canada East and West or just possibly for all the provinces of British North America.  Confederation becomes a political possibility.
