It's Women's History Month

... and Merna Forster draws attention to her petition, now 22,000 signatures strong, to see some women on Canadian money.
In 2011 the only women ever to appear on our money were replaced by an icebreaker.
The new governor of the Bank of Canada sez it won't happen soon.

I understand the Post Office tries not to respond to pressure campaigns regarding subjects of new stamps, on the theory it if it becomes just a popularity contest, we'll have Hello Kitty and Rob Ford on stamps and no room for postage stamp creativity.  I could see something similar operating at the Bank -- except the idea of putting Alice Munro on the money strikes me as very creative.
