Helmut Kallman 1922-2012 RIP

Neither a trained musicologist nor a librarian, Helmut Kallman, who died recently, became the country's pre-eminent music librarian and, as prime mover of the Encyclopedia of Music in Canada, a leading historian of Canadian music too.  Fellow encyclopediast James Marsh pays tribute to him here and musician John Beckwith here.
