Gordon-Reed's National Book Award

Annette Gordon-Reed's history The Hemingses of Monticello: An American Family, discussed on this blog some time ago, has won the (American) National Book Award.

So, as the first African-American woman to win this award, is she non-fiction's/history's Obama? Nah, let's get over all the Obama comparisons. She's written a good book in her own right, is what it is.
