Sixth of June 1944, 1891




It's the anniversary (the 64th, I guess, he said, counting on his fingers) of those still momentous, still moving events on Juno and the rest of the Normandy beaches.




It's also the anniversary (um, the 117th, that would be) of the death of John A. Macdonald. He had a slight stroke late in May 1891. Confined to his bed, he continued to work on his correspondence, but he had another one and then he just faded. He was 76; it only seemed he had been there forever.
