I've been reading that France, or western civilization, or liberalism are under assault. Perhaps it is Islam most of all.
I find myself thinking of decent, reverent Muslims, again and again confronted with the fact that the most prominent, the most confident, the most determined self-selected spokesmen for their faith are the ones who insist that Islam is for murderers, fascists, and psychopaths. Western civilization, with all its glories and failings, will go on. Islam needs to be defended, to defend itself, from these hijackers.
