History of things getting worse

The chart is a little complicated, but the trend ain't. It covers rich countries that have significant income inequalities, and it measures which of those do the least to combat inequality through tax and other policy measures. The least is over there on the left, and it is not surprising that it is the United States. But look who is third best at letting the rich get richer and the devil take the hindmost not using policy to redress inequalities: Canada.

Would be interesting to track this historically. I suspect it was developing in the Mulroney years, continued apace in the Chrétien years, and has just strengthened in the Harper time.  (Open to being corrected on that!)
