Fieldcote Museum on the Ancaster Assize of 1814

To my growing list of favourite museum exhibits, add the one on the Ancaster treason trials of 1814 at a small museum previously unknown to me, the Fieldcote Museum in Ancaster.  Forgive my lousy photography, but seen in situ Lori LeMare's mural of eight pairs of feet hanging down from a bright western sky on the Burlington Heights is very powerful.

I'm working up a piece for Canada's History related to the treason trials, so the museum's take on them is of particular interest, but it's a very effective exhibit in a very attractive site. It's on through the end of the War of 1812 commemorations. A reunion of descendants of the hanged men is planned for July 20th of next year, the 200th anniversary of the executions.
