University of Victoria Transgender Archives

This year the University of Victoria (British Columbia) has launched the University of Victoria Transgender Archives. The University, "...believes that the history of pioneering transgender activists and the work they have done on behalf of their communities must be preserved. UVic Archives is actively acquiring documents, rare publications, and memorabilia of persons and organizations that have worked for the betterment of transgendered people." It's held that this is the largest collection of transgendered archival material in the world.

The Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives also holds records of transgender Canadians, including a collection novels.

It looks like there's an upcoming fundraiser for the U Vic Transgender Archive tomorrow (Wed Nov 21, 2012).
