Book Prize season begins again

History books were pretty much shut out on the Writers' Trust awards shortlist (results November 17), but south of the border, they are doing pretty well in the National Books Awards shortlist, including Annette Gordon-Reed's The Hemingses of Monticello, previously noted here.

The Writers' Trust Awards, previously held in late spring, have moved up to the fall, in keeping with most other awards.
