Gérard Bouchard, sociologist?

Recently, I was noting the slight presence of historians on a survey of the world's leading public intellectuals.

Today I notice that in the media coverage of the Bouchard-Taylor report on "reasonable accomodation" in Quebec, released yesterday, Gérard Bouchard, the distinguished historian of Quebec, is consistently identified a sociologist. The reporters probably mean it as a compliment.
